Hello! My name is Isabella Augustine and I am a senior biological sciences major at the University of Pittsburgh. After completing my undergraduate degree, I aspire to attend dental school. I am a transfer student from Pitt-Greensburg and a commuter to Oakland’s campus. I hope that my own experiences as a transfer/commuter/biology student will aid in resolving any questions or concerns that you may have about student life. This year, along with being a peer advisor, I will be assisting with the DRDR project in the School of Dental Medicine. I am also currently a lab assistant in the Graduate School of Public Health. When I’m not at school or work, I enjoy spending quality time with my younger sister, Vienna. I also have a passion for dance and have been practicing for many years. I spend an entire week during summer break choreographing a high school dance team. I am very excited for the upcoming semester and I look forward to meeting you! Hello! My name is Lisa Coe, and I'm very excited to be one of your Biological Sciences Peer Advisors! For those of you who don’t know me, here’s a little bit about myself: I’m majoring in Microbiology, minoring in Chemistry (duh), and working towards the American Sign Language Studies Certificate. I work in the Hainer lab, so I also plan on applying for the Life Sciences Research Certificate. Additionally, I’m a diver on the Varsity Women’s Swimming and Diving Team and a photographer for The Pitt News. As for non-Pitt things about me, I’m a concert and lifestyle photographer, acroyogi, amateur indoor rock climber, occasional slackliner, and part-time diving coach. For two summers I’ve worked at an orthopedic physical therapy clinic back in New Jersey (yes, I’m from New Jersey—no, I don’t say “Joisey”). Over my summers at the physical therapy clinic, I got pretty used to hearing patients say, “Oh, you go to Pitt? I hear they have a really great PT program. That’s what you wanna do, right?” Well, actually, no. I came to Pitt with my big plan of going to medical school, having a twenty-year Army career as a cardiothoracic surgeon, then “retiring into” teaching biology. To put it simply, things have changed. I now plan on following the PhD route and pursuing a career in academia. So, that’s me in a nutshell! I’ll have my office hours on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00 with Michaela. Come by to ask questions, talk bio, or even just to take a break from studying and say hello. I’d love to have a chat. And feel free to stop me if you see me wandering around Clapp or Langley. Cheers!
